## Quick answer

A 10 × 6 × 3 inch, 1.2 lb item selling for $24.99 is **large standard**. Shipped on October 8, 2026, before the holiday peak, its 2026 FBA fulfillment fee is **$5.61**: $5.42 from the rate card plus Amazon's separate 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge of $0.19\. Shipped during the peak, from October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027, it is **$5.93** ($5.73 plus a $0.20 surcharge). For the October 8 shipment, add a 15% referral fee of $3.75 and two months of storage from August 8 to October 7, each calendar month at its own rate ($0.20; the 7 days in October are billed at the higher October–December rate): that is $9.56 in Amazon fees, leaving $15.43 before your product and shipping costs. Rates from Amazon Seller Central, checked 2026-10-08; peak and storage rates checked again 2026-10-15.

## About the Amazon FBA Calculator

An Amazon US fee estimate built from the things you can measure yourself — packaged dimensions, unit weight, price and category — with no ASIN, login or browser extension. It assigns the 2026 size tier, works out dimensional and shipping weight, applies the fulfillment fee for the right price band and season along with the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge, adds the category's referral fee and an estimate of monthly storage, then reports net proceeds, profit per unit, margin and return on investment.

## How to use it

You need four things you can measure with a tape and a scale — the **packaged** length, width and height in inches and the unit weight in pounds — plus your selling price and the product category. There is no ASIN lookup, no login and no browser extension: type the numbers and the calculator works out the size tier, the shipping weight Amazon will bill, the FBA fulfillment fee, the referral fee and an estimate of monthly storage.

Add your landed product cost and what it costs to ship each unit into Amazon's warehouses to see profit per unit, margin and return on investment. Every line is broken down under **Show the math**, so you can see exactly which bracket of the rate card you landed in and why.

## Use cases

- **Screening product ideas.** Run a supplier's box size and weight through the fees before you pay for samples.
- **Right-sizing packaging.** Trim an inch or two and watch whether the unit drops a size tier or a weight bracket.
- **Pricing around fee bands.** See what changes when a price crosses $10 or $50, where the fulfillment rate steps.
- **Planning for Q4.** Set a ship date in the holiday window to see the peak fulfillment fee and how many storage days land in October–December.
- **Comparing categories.** Check how referral rules for beauty, electronics accessories or clothing change the margin.

## How Amazon calculates FBA fees in 2026

### 1\. Size tier

Amazon sorts every unit into a size tier using its longest, median and shortest sides and its weight: unit weight for small standard, and the greater of unit and dimensional weight (step 2) for every larger tier. From January 15, 2026 the US tiers are:

| Tier | Max weight | Max dimensions (in) |
| ------------------------- | --------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| Small standard | 16 oz | 15 × 12 × 0.75 |
| Large standard | 20 lb | 18 × 14 × 8 |
| Small bulky (new in 2026) | 50 lb | 37 × 28 × 20, length + girth ≤ 130 |
| Large bulky | 50 lb | 59 × 33 × 33, length + girth ≤ 130 |
| Extra-large | above any limit | bands at 50, 70 and 150 lb |

Girth is twice the sum of the median and shortest sides.

### 2\. Shipping weight

Amazon bills the greater of the unit weight and the **dimensional weight** — length × width × height ÷ 139 — except for small standard items and extra-large items over 150 lb, which use unit weight. Bulky and extra-large items are measured as at least 2 inches wide and tall. A light but bulky box can jump several brackets — or a whole tier: a 30 × 20 × 15 inch box weighing 10 lb has 64.7 lb of dimensional weight, which is over the 50 lb bulky limit, so Amazon treats it as extra-large. That is why packaging size matters so much.

### 3\. Fulfillment fee

The fee comes from a rate card by tier and shipping-weight bracket, and since 2024 it also depends on price: items under $10 get a lower rate, items over $50 a higher one. Large standard items above 3 lb add $0.08 per extra 4 oz; bulky and extra-large items add a per-pound charge. From **April 17, 2026** Amazon adds a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on top. During the holiday peak — units shipped from 2026-10-15 through 2027-01-14 — a higher rate card applies, and this calculator switches automatically based on the ship date.

### 4\. Referral fee

Amazon's selling commission is a percentage of the total sale price, set by category, with a $0.30 minimum per unit in most categories. Most products pay 15%; some categories step down above a price point (electronics accessories pay 15% up to $100 and 8% on the rest), and beauty, baby and grocery items pay only 8% at low prices. Media adds a $1.80 closing fee.

### 5\. Storage

Monthly storage is charged per cubic foot of average inventory: $0.78 for standard-size items and $0.56 for oversize from January to September, rising to $2.40 and $1.40 from October to December. Amazon bills every calendar month at that month's own rate, on the daily average space your stock took up, so the season that matters is the one the unit sits through, not the one it ships in. The calculator counts your months in storage back from the ship date and charges each calendar month for the days the unit was there: a unit that ships on October 8 after two months pays the lower rate for August 8 to September 30 and the higher rate for October 1 to 7.

## Worked example

A $24.99 kitchen gadget in a 10 × 6 × 3 inch box weighing 1.2 lb, shipped on October 8, 2026 (before the peak window) after two months in storage, costing $6.00 landed plus $0.60 to send in.

1. Tier: within 18 × 14 × 8 and under 20 lb → large standard.
2. Dimensional weight = 10 × 6 × 3 ÷ 139 = 1.29 lb, more than the 1.2 lb unit weight, so Amazon bills 1.29 lb — the 1.25–1.5 lb bracket.
3. Fulfillment fee for $10–$50 items, non-peak: $5.42, plus the 3.5% surcharge of $0.19 = $5.61.
4. Referral fee: 15% × $24.99 = $3.75.
5. Storage: two months back from October 8, 2026 is August 8 to the day before shipping — 24 days of August, all of September and 7 days of October: 0.104 ft³ × ($0.78 × 24/31 + $0.78 + $2.40 × 7/31) = $0.20.
6. Total Amazon fees = $9.56\. Net proceeds = $15.43\. Profit after the $6.60 product and inbound cost = $8.83 — a 35.3% margin and a 134% ROI.

Ship the same unit on or after October 15, 2026 and the peak rate card applies until January 14, 2027: $5.73 plus a $0.20 surcharge, $5.93 for fulfillment instead of $5.61.

Shrink the box to 10 × 6 × 2.5 inches and the dimensional weight drops to 1.08 lb, below the unit weight, so the unit falls into the 1–1.25 lb bracket and the fee drops by about 40 cents per unit.

## Fees this calculator leaves out

Amazon has more fees than fit on one form. These depend on how you run your inventory rather than on the product, so they are listed rather than calculated:

- **Inbound placement fee** — free when you let Amazon split shipments across its network; per unit when you choose fewer destinations. Enter your figure under "Storage, ship date, placement fee".
- **Low-inventory-level fee** — charged per unit when you hold less than four weeks of supply.
- **Storage utilization and aged-inventory surcharges** — for sellers holding a lot of slow inventory.
- **Returns processing, advertising, prep and labeling services**, and the **Professional plan** at $39.99 a month.
- Packaging fees for bulky items that are not certified for Ships in Product Packaging.

## Tips to lower your FBA fees

- Measure the packaged product, not the product. A slightly smaller box can drop a size tier or a weight bracket.
- Watch the $10 and $50 price bands: the fulfillment fee steps up at each.
- Send inventory in time for the holidays but not so early that it sits through October–December storage rates.
- Check the category. Products that legitimately fit beauty, baby or grocery pay 8% on sales of $10 or less.

## Frequently asked questions

How much does Amazon FBA cost per unit?

For a typical large standard item selling between $10 and $50, the fulfillment fee is roughly $3.73–$6.67 for items up to 3 lb, plus a 15% referral fee and a few cents to dollars of storage. Enter your product's size and price above for the exact figure.

What changed in Amazon FBA fees for 2026?

From January 15, 2026 Amazon introduced a new small bulky size tier, updated the rate card (about $0.08 more per unit on average) and kept referral rates unchanged. From April 17, 2026 it added a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on fulfillment fees.

How is dimensional weight calculated for FBA?

Multiply length × width × height in inches and divide by 139\. Amazon bills the greater of the unit weight and the dimensional weight for most tiers; small standard items always use unit weight.

When do Amazon's peak fulfillment fees apply?

To units shipped from October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027\. In that window the 10 × 6 × 3 inch, 1.2 lb example at $24.99 pays $5.93 instead of $5.61: $5.73 from the peak rate card plus the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge of $0.20, which Amazon adds on top. Storage follows the calendar rather than the ship date: every day a unit spends in storage in October, November or December is billed at the higher rate.

What is the Amazon referral fee?

Amazon's commission on each sale: a percentage of the total sale price that depends on the category — 15% for most products — with a $0.30 minimum per unit in most categories.

Is this the same as Amazon's Revenue Calculator?

It uses the same published US rate cards, but you do not need an ASIN or a Seller Central login, every step is shown, and you can share the result as a link. Amazon's own tool remains the authority for a specific listing.

Does the calculator include the monthly Professional plan fee?

No. The $39.99 monthly subscription is a fixed cost of your account rather than of each unit. Divide it by your monthly unit sales and add it to product cost if you want it included.

**Disclaimer.** Fees are calculated from Amazon's published 2026 US Seller Central fee pages, checked October 8, 2026 (the peak fulfillment table and the storage rates again on October 15, 2026), and cover the most common FBA fees only.
